Flow Uganda, a leading fintech empowering mobile money agents across the country, is the latest impactful business to join the Balim Investments portfolio. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to improving rural livelihoods through tailored financing and technical support.
Balim Investments, a joint initiative by HEKS/EPER Swiss Church Aid, Somaha Foundation, and iGravity focuses on providing African SMEs with the resources they need to drive sustainable development. Supporting Flow marks another step in advancing this mission.
Addressing the Core Challenges of Financial Access
Mobile money agents play a pivotal role in rural Uganda, where traditional banking services are often out of reach. However, many agents struggle with inadequate working capital, known as “float,” which limits their ability to process transactions and serve their communities effectively.
Flow Uganda is tackling this challenge head-on. By leveraging technology and data analytics, the company offers customized float financing solutions to over 10,000 agents, 65% of whom operate in rural areas. This approach enables agents to meet customer needs, sustain their operations, and boost their income, creating a positive ripple effect in underserved communities.
Scaling Impact with Balim Investments
With support from Balim Investments, Flow aims to expand its platform to reach 30,000 agents over the next three years. This growth will strengthen financial infrastructure in rural Uganda, increasing access to essential services such as deposits, withdrawals, and bill payments.
The collaboration will also foster economic empowerment by enhancing agents’ earning potential and enabling greater financial stability in rural regions.
